On July 12, 1937, William Henry aka Bill Cosby was born in Philadelphia. At Philadelphia’s Mary Channing Wister Public School, Cosby served as the class president. Although he went to Germantown High School, he dropped out after the tenth grade. Cosby dropped out of school in 1956 at the age of 15 to enlist in the Navy. He provided physical therapy for injured Navy and Marine Corps personnel from the Korean War.
