He is a former UFC Flyweight Champion and the current Interim UFC Flyweight Champion, and he now competes in the Flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). On December 7, 1993, Moreno was born in Tijuana, Baja California in a lower-middle-class family that ran a piñata business. When Moreno was 12 years old, he decided to start training in mixed martial arts and his mother enrolled him in the neighbourhood Entram Gym. He had initially intended to attend a local college in Mexico and then special law school to become a professional lawyer, but he changed his mind and decided that he wants a career in mixed martial arts. He put in a lot of work during his adolescence and started competing in amateur events.

Moreno made his professional MMA debut in Mexico in April 2011 and his record in the first two years of his career was 6 victories and 3 losses. He made his World Fighting Federation debut in 2014 and went on to amass a 5-0 undefeated record. He eventually triumphed in the Flyweight division and won the title. He was chosen to compete in the Flyweight tournament on “The Ultimate Fighter” season 25 as a result of his success.
