After this, he hosted TBS from 2010-2020. From TBS he earned yearly $12 million. He was the president of The Harvard Lampoon while he was at Harvard University. Conan O’Brien Early Life:
April 18, 1963, was the day when Conan was born. He was born in Brookline, Massachusetts. His mother, Ruth O’Brien is retired and a former partner at the Boston firm. His father, Thomas Francis O’Brien, is a professor and physician. Conan has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He went to Brookline High School and there he served as the managing editor of the school newspaper. In his senior year, the National Council of Teachers of English writing contest was won by O’Brien. In 1981, he graduated as a valedictorian and then entered Harvard University. His first year was spent with a future businessman Luis Ubinas and 2 others. His majors are in History and Literature and graduated with a bachelor’s in arts degree. He played drums in a band called The Bad Clams. In his sophomore and junior years, he served as Lampoon’s President.

Saturday Night Live (1988-1991)
After Harvard, he moved to Los Angeles to join the writing staff of HBO’s sketch comedy series Not Necessarily the News. He performed regularly with improvisational groups. O’Brien was hired as a writer in January 1988. He wrote sketches such as “Mr. Short-Term memory” and “The Girl Watchers.”. He appeared as an extra in SNL many times. He also wrote a television plot for Lookwell. The plot was aired on NBC but was not a success and this failure made him quit SNL in 1991.
The Simpsons (1991-1993)
After this O’Brien was offered a job by Mike Reiss and Al Jean, the showrunners of the sitcom The Simpsons. At that time the series was the best and everyone wanted to be a part of it but most of them were never hired. With help of a friend Lisa Kudrow, he purchased an apartment in Beverly Hills. O’Brien was the writer and producer of The Simpsons, and he was temporarily given the office of Jeff Martin. He was nervous and thought he would never fit in but later he would pitch characters in his voice. He was told that no one had ever done this before, and this made him fit quickly.
In meantime, David Letterman was ready to leave the talk show “Late Night” they were on a run to find a new host. So, they reached out to O’Brien, and O’Brien’s agent told them that he wanted to perform as well. Later he was auditioned and then was selected as the new host of the show. His contract with the fox was still on so both “Late Night” show and “The Simpsons” split the cost to get him out. The late-night show premiered on September 13 but was a failure. He was threatened by NBC with weekly contact. Some of the interns had to fill the seats. But after some time, things improved, and the show got popular. In 1996, the show and O’Brien were nominated for Emmy Award. He also won the Writers Guild Award for Best Writing in a Comedy/Variety Series several times. Late Night was aired for the last time on February 20, 2009 and ended a 15-year contract with O’Brian. After this O’Brian worked for seven months on “The Tonight Show” and has low ratings. Jay leno was in the prime slot with low ratings, and this resulted returning of Jay Leno to “The Tonight Show”. This came to be known as The Tonight Conflict.
He had a settlement with NBC. He did 30-city live tour and has some notable moments from them such as being the first American television personality to film in Cuba for over fifty years. Also, he filmed in DMZ in South Korea.
