Dan Povenmire is a well-known producer, animator, writer, and director from United States. He is also known for his voice over acting in animated projects. Povenmire is the co-creator behind Disney’s famed animated series Phineas and Ferb.

Born in San Diego, California, Povenmire was raised in city of Mobile, Alabama. He was a talented artist from the very start and by the age of 10 his art work was being displayed in the local art shows. After graduating from Shaw High school in Mobile, he started attending University of South Alabama. He was in college when he developed the popular comic strip titled ‘Life is a Fish’. The comic strip was based around the life of Herman the goldfish and the life he lives with college students.
Wanting to pursue a career in films, Povenmire transferred to University of South California in 1985. At the university he secured a publishing deal in the University newspaper and started publishing Life is a Fish. He made a lot of money selling merchandise based around the character. After graduating and working a short time as street artist, Povenmire started working as a freelancing animator for television series including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Povenmire secured a job as character layout animator on one of the most famous animated series The Simpsons. It was on that job in 1990s that he started collaborating with Jeffery Marsh another young animator and later the two worked as colleagues of various projects. During his time on The Simpsons he also worked as a writer and wrote the screenplay for horror movie Psycho Cop 2.
He started working with Nickelodeon on the Rocko’s Modern Life cartoon project and loving the creative freedom he was given he quit his job as animator on The Simpsons. He worked with Jeff Marsh on the project as the writer. The two developed a distinctive animation style which included characteristic musical numbers and chase scenes. The duo also won an Environmental Achievement Award for an episode of Rocko they wrote in 1996.
Povenmire made his directorial debut with Family Guy animated series. After that he served as a storyboard director for series SpongeBob Square Pants. Povenmire was also hired as a writer for the show later.
He and Marsh created the idea of animated series Phineas and Ferb in 1993. The idea was to form a show based on their similar experiences of childhood and summers they spend playing outdoors.
