Dana Frederick White Jr. was born on 28 July 1969 in Town of Manchester, Connecticut, United States. His parents were June and Dana White. He has a sister named Kelly, both of them were mostly raised by their mother. He mainly grew up in Las Vegas and Maine. He studied at Hermon high school and graduated in 1987. He is a University of Massachusetts drop out. He was actively involved in sports especially boxing since childhood. He is also a die-hard fan of baseball team Boston Red Sox. He got married to his 8th grade sweetheart Anne Stella in 1996. They have three children together named Aidan, Savannah and Dana III. In 2012, White announced he was suffering from a neurological disorder Ménière’s disease which he got from an injury in boxing during teenages.

White started his career as an aerobics instructor and Boxercise coach in early 90s. he did amateur boxing for a brief period of time. In 1992, after relocation to Las Vegas, he opened Dana White enterprises. He entered boxing career by managing boxers such as Chuck Lidell and Tito Ortiz. He dealt in different styles of fighting such as the Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai. These two styles laid the foundation of Ultimate Fighting Championship later. In mid 90s, he met his high school friend Lorenzo Fertitta at a wedding. Lorenzo was an executive in a hotel & casino chain called Station Casinos. They shared love for boxing. During his career as manager for fighters, White got into disputes with UFC. He started looking into finances of UFC’s parent company named Semaphore Entertainment Group. He learned by looking into the books that the company was going broke. He asked his buddy Fertitta to jump in and make an offer, which he did seeing the massive profit outcomes. In 2001, after buying 81% shares of UFC worth $2 million. White was made president of the newly purchased organization. Soon enough, UFC turned from barbaric & illegal to an international phenomenon. Dana helped UFC to turn into a multi-million dollars business since then. He remains the president even after the company is sold to talent agency WME-IMG in July 2016.
