Darren Clarke is a Northern Ireland professional golfer. Clarke is currently a player in PGA tour champions but he was player on European and PGA tour previously.

Darren Clarke Career

 Clarke started playing collegiate golf at Wake Forest University. He turned into professional golfer in the year 1990. During 1990-1992, Clarke had a steady career in golfing. In the year 1993, he won his first European Tour and made his way to 8^th position on the Order of merit. He was previously placed 41^st in the ranking. During his 1993 season, he also achieved four top ten finifhed in four consecutive tournaments. In 1995, he finished second at the Portuguese Open. That year, he was ranked 14^th on the Order of merit. Clarke won his second European tour in 1996. He also finished 11^th on the Open championship and was placed 8^th on the order pf merit. In 1997, Volvo PGA Championship he was a runner up and had a near win at the Open Championship. The season ended with Clarke securing a 4^th position in the order of merit.

In 1998, Clarke finished 8^th, his highest ever finish in the Masters. That same year he also managed to win this third European tour at Benson and Hedges International. He also ended the season by winning Volvo Masters in Spain. He was placed 2^nd in the order of merit that year. Clarke managed to beat Tiger Woods at the World Golf Championship in the year 2000, this win at the WGC Andersen Consulting Match play championship provided him with a career breakhough and recognition world wide. Overall the year 2000 was a great season for Clarke with him finishing top ten in numerous high profile tournaments. He won the Compass group English Open in 2002 and became the first man to win the tournament three times while also earning his ninth career title. During the 2005 to 2007 Clarke had a couple of bad golfing seasons with 2007 season being his worst season as a professional golfer.

In 2008, he won BMW Asian Open, the title was his first win in almost 5 years. Clarke won his first major championship in 2011 by winning the Open championship. In 2020, he earned his first win at the PGA Tour champions by winning the Timbertech Championship. In 2022 he won his first senior major championship.

Clarke was also a member of European’s Ryder Cup team for five consecutive years and the European team won the Ryder Cup four times wih Clarke on the team. He was also named 216 Ryder Cup captain.

Clarke has a total of 27 professional wins including 3 PGA tour wins, 14 European Tour wins, 4 PGA tour Champions wins and 1 major tournament win.

He has won Texaco Ireland Sportstar Golf award six times.
