Davis Milton Career
Davis Milton Love is the son of Davis Love Jr. who was also a well-loved golf player and started playing golf at a young age due to his father’s influence. Milton turned into a professional golfer in 1985 and quickly made a name for himself, after securing his first event win on the PGA tour in 1987. Love along with Fred Couples won the World Cup of Golf for United States for four consecutive years (1992-1995). Love won his only major championship at the 1997 PGA Championship.
He has also won the Players Championship 1992 and 2003. Love has reached 2nd on the official World Golf Ranking and has been in the top ten of the list for over 450 weeks. He has also been captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup teams in 2012 and 2016. The U.S. team won the Ryder Cup in 2016 under his captaincy. At the age of 51, his win at the 2015 Wyndham Championship made him the third oldest winner in the PGA Tour history. Love is also the tournament host of the RSM Classic.
Love’s son Davis IV also known as Dru is also a professional golfer and the pair won 2018 Father/son challenge at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Florida.
In 1994, love launched ‘Love Golf Design’ which is golf course designing company. He started the company with his brother Mark Love. His company designed the Dunes course at Diamante in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The course is ranked among Golf Magazine’s Top 100 courses in the world.
Love released his first book called ‘Every shot I take’ which was published in 1997, as a way to honor his father’s lessons on life and golf. The book received the United States Golf Association’s International Book Award. He also developed a golf course that same year called ‘Anderson Creek Club’ the course won an award for ‘best new course in North Carolina’ in 2001.
Love joined CBS as full time analyst in 2020 during PGA Tour season. He resigned after the season was finished to focus on his family and career as a golfer.
Davis Love has also been named the captain for the United States in the Presidents Cup 2022. Love is one of the most accomplished golfers in PGA history.
