Ernie Els Early Life
Ernie used to play cricket, tennis, rugby, and golf at the age of 8. He played tennis and won Eastern Transvaal Junior Championships at age of 13. He learned golf from his father and was soon better than him. He won Junior World Golf Championship. He won the South African Amateur after his 17th birthday.

In 1989, he turned professional and won his first professional tournament in 1991. Els won Sunshine Tour Order of Merit in 1991-92 and 1994-95. Els’s first major championship was at U.S Open in 1994. He won the Dubai Desert Classic and the Toyota World Match Play Championship. In the United States, he won GTE Byron Nelson Classic. Els won World Match Play Championship for the third time.
