Born and raised in Florida, James Finch attended Bay High School. He graduated from high school and after that started working in the construction industry. He started his career in the industry at a very young age and with hard work and passion went on to form Phoenix construction.

James Finch founded a construction company by the name of ‘Phoenix Construction. With hard work and dedication, the company landed its first major contract. Tyndall Air Force Base was the company’s 1^st big client. Working on a construction contract with them, Phoenix Construction found its footing. Currently, Phoenix Construction is referred to as one of the most successful and acknowledged airport construction companies.

James Finch founded his racing team with a driver named Jeff Purvis. The duo launched their team at the dirt oval track racing. In 1989, Finch moved to NASCAR. He entered the Busch Series and later the Winston Cup Series racing. His team ‘Phoenix Racing’ mostly entered the cup series on a part-time basis. However, in its last years, the team started racing full-time in the cup. One of Phoenix Racing’s most famous sponsors included Miccosukee resorts.

In 2021, Finch was arrested in association with federal indictments of Margo Anderson and Adam Albritton. His construction company ‘Phoenix Construction’ has also been charged with several fines. The fines were charged due to environmental infractions and botched construction. He was fined in 2009 for allowing stormwater runoff to pollute wetlands and creeks present near Northwest Florida Beaches Airport.
