Jeffrey Skilling Career Beginnings
He worked for a Houston bank following his 1975 graduation, which paid for his tuition at Harvard Business School, where he obtained an MBA while graduating as a Baker Scholar in the top 5% of his class. He started working as a consultant with McKinsey & Company and eventually rose to the position of partner. Skilling was found guilty on May 26, 2006, on one conspiracy offense, one insider trading count, five counts of providing false statements to auditors, and twelve counts of securities fraud. He received a prison term of 24 years, 4 months. On December 13, 2006, Skilling started serving his term at the Maxwell Air Force Base’s Montgomery Federal Prison Camp. Up until 2018, when he was granted an early release and transferred to a halfway home in Texas to complete the remainder of his sentence, he remained there.
