Larry Flynt’s Personal and Early Life

Larry Claxton Flynt was born on November 1, 1942, in Lakeville, Kentucky. Larry Flynt was the eldest in his siblings. His mother was a homemaker, and his father was a World War II sharecropper. Larry Flynt has two younger siblings named Judy and Jimmy Ray. Larry Flynt’s sister Judy passed away at the age of four due to leukaemia disease. After the death of his sister, his parents got divorced.

Larry Flynt lived with his mother while his younger brother Jimmy was raised by his grandmother. Larry often visited his brother because he was not comfortable living with his mom’s boyfriend. Larry Flynt failed the exams in high school and then he ran from his house and joined United States Army at the age of fifteen by showing them fake birth certificates.

Larry Flynt married five times during his life and had five children. He had four daughters and one son. His one daughter died, and Larry disowned his eldest daughter. Larry’s fourth wife was the co-publisher for the “Hustler”, and she had helped Larry Flynt a lot with his business.

Larry Flynt’s Career

Larry Flynt joined the United States Navy in 1960. Larry Flynt also worked at the post of radar operator on the USS Enterprise. When he left the Navy, he stepped on a series of business ventures. In 1965, he brought his mother’s bar to Ohio by using a huge amount of dollars from his savings. He used the profit in buying two more bars.

He continued to expand his mini-bar business into a huge empire and then finally in 1968, he opened a club named “Hustler.” After the hit and success of the Hustler club, he opened branches of Hustler clubs in different cities like Columbus and Toledo. In 1972, Larry Flynt introduced the Hustler magazine in the cities for the publicity of his Hustler clubs.

The first publication of Hustler magazine was in July 1974 and by the mid of 1975 the magazine got a hit and was sold in millions of magazines per month. Then he created the “LFP” known as Larry Flynt Productions which was his own private company, and he was the CEO of LFP.
