Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Laurie David got her graduation degree in journalism from the Ohio University in 1979.
She started her career by working in the entertainment industry. David served as talent coordinator for the show Late Night with David Letterman. She worked in that capacity for four years and eventually she left to start her own management company. She started representing various comedians and writers. During that time, David also got into production and produced several comedy specials for HBO, Showtime, MTV and Fox. She moved to Los Angeles and became a vice president at the comedy division of Fox broadcasting.
