The initial history of Loud Records:

Zoo first distributed the label. Later, RCA handled distribution until 1999, when Columbia took control. Sony Music revived the label in June 2007, and Rifkind later acquired it, turning it into an SRC subsidiary. His initial move after regaining control of the company was to sign the Wu-Tang Clan, just as he had done 15 years ago. Steve Rifkind revealed on July 29 that he would depart Universal on September 1.

After Rifkind departed Universal, Axel Leon became the first person to be signed to Loud. 

The label will relaunch in 2020 as a completely autonomous operation, enabling customers to own their masters. Loud Records was changed to Loud Music Group as part of the relaunch. Ryrie, the son of Rifkind, is on the roster of the new label.

Rifkind complied with RZA’s demands and signed the Clan to a $60,000 record deal after becoming convinced that the Shaolin group would develop into a movement.

The label was handled by RCA Records initially until 1999 when distribution switched to Columbia Records. The title was shut down in 2002.
