Michael Darby was born on July 29, 1959, Melbourne Australia. He earned a degree in Construction Engineering and Business Development from the University of Melbourne. After his graduation, he then began his career as a general contractor. In 1980, he left his home country and migrated to the United States for better career opportunities.

Michael Darby is a family man. He was married twice and has two children, Dean Michael Darby and Matthew Darby. Darby is a sports enthusiastic personality who loves skiing and kite surfing.
