Michel Platini is a French football manager and former player. He has won Ballon d’Or three times and was voted the FIFA Player of the Century. He was named Chevalier of the Legion d’honneur and became an officer in 1998. In his club career, he played for clubs such as Nancy, Saint-Etienne, and Juventus. Michel Platini Early life

Platini is the son of Aldo and Anna, both were Italians. Platini’s father was also a professional footballer and was a director of AS Nancy club. He started his professional career there as well. When he was playing in the Coupe Gambardella tournament, he attracted the attention of Metz. He was later called for a trial, but he was injured in it.

After some months, he again went to Metz but fainted in a breathing test. Doctors told him he had breathing difficulties and a weak heart which was an obstacle for him to play football. In 1972 he joined Nancy Club.

Platini after joining Nancy scored a hat-trick against Wittelsheim. After the 1974 season, Platini became the most important player for Nancy as he scored 17 goals. He participated in the 1976 Montreal Olympics and also signed a 2 years contract with Nancy. He won his first ever major in the 1978 French Cup and after that, he participated in World Cup. In 1979, his contract with Nancy ended and he later signed a 3-year contract with Saint-Etienne. In contract with Saint-Etienne, he won the French league title in 1981. He also had success in the Europeans Cup. He joined Juventus and won an Italian Cup but lost the European Cup final. In 1984 and 1986 he won the Serie A title, in 1984 he won European Cup Winners’ Cup and European Super Cup and in 1985 he won the European Cup and Intercontinental Cup. He was the top scorer in Serie A for three years and won the European Footballer of the Year award for three years. In 1987 he retired from football.

Platini won the game in Olympics against Romania and was a star in France. He was with Team France in the 1976 Summer Olympics and his team won against Mexico. The team followed another win and made its way to the quarterfinals, but they lost in the finals. After the World Cup Platini was made the captain of the team and in 1984 he won the European Championship. Platini made his last appearance for the French team in 1987 and then he retired from football. On 27 November 1988 after his retirement, he played his last international match and represented Kuwait.
