Paul Casey Career
Casey joined Arizona State University under golf scholarship. As an amateur golfer, he won three Pac-2 championships from 1998-2000. In the 2000 championship he broke the scoring record held by Tiger Woods. He also won English Amateur in 1999 and 2000. In Walker Cup 1999, Casey was a member of Great Britain and Ireland’s winning team and he was one of the three players to secure four victories without a single defeat.
After starting his career as a professional golfer, Casey started playing in the European Tour in 2001. He secured a win at his eleventh event of the tour and as a result he was placed 22nd on the Order of Merit and was also awarded the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the year award. Casey’s performance was not up to the mark during his second season but later in 2003, he won the Benson and Hedges International Open and ANZ Championship. He was also placed sixth on the Order of Merit that same year. In 2004, he won Ryder Cup as a member of the European team and Luke Donald and Casey also won the WGC World Cup for England. He also finished sixth at his first Masters. He joined PGA Tour in 2004 as a special temporary member and he was also qualified to play the 2005 season of the tour. Casey majorly played in the European Tours and in 2006 he was the leader of European Tour Order of merit. In 2009 he started playing again in the PGA Tour.
Casey has also been in the top ten of the Official World Golf Ranking. He has also won HSBC World Match Play Championship in the year 2006. He is also the only player in Ryder Cup history to win a foursome match with a hole-in-one.
Casey secured his first PGA Tour win in 2009 at the Shell Houston Open and that helped him secure a No.6 position in the Official World Golf Ranking. It was also in 2009 that he won his 10th European Tour and due to this win he was promoted to 3rd position in the Official World Golf Ranking, he was at No. 41 when the year started.
Casey has a total of 21 career wins including 3 PGA tour wins and 15 European Tour wins. He has joined LIV Golf in 2022 and made his debut in the tour in late July.
