Ryen McPherson is a film director, cameraman, and producer from the United States. McPherson sprang to prominence with the establishment of Bumfights. Bumfights is an Indecline film series in which homeless men undertook amateur feats in exchange for money, booze, and other incentives. These feats were carried out without any inducement, monetary recompense, or persuasion. After experiencing them firsthand and spending significant time getting to know Rufus. Instead, the film focuses on graffiti, street violence, persons with mental problems, and skateboarding, with strong anti-establishment and anti-capitalist undertones. The Indecline stencil was included with the DVD when it was published in 2005.
McPherson and his Bumfights co-creator Daniel Tanner were questioned by Thai authorities in November 2014 before being freed without prosecution for attempting to send human remains back to the United States. A warrant for McPherson’s arrest was issued on November 18, 2014. McPherson and Tanner promptly departed for Cambodia and returned to the United States.
