Stephen G. Hill was born on 26 October 1961 in Southeast Washington, D.C. He is of black ethnicity. He attended Groton boarding school for a brief period of time. After that, he studied in Potomac senior high school. He attained his Bachelors degree in Applied Mathematics from Brown University. Hill had an interest in music events since childhood. According to him, he owes his success to his passion of announcing various songs that he kept on his tape player. He initiated his formal career by working at radio station WBRU-FM in Brown University. But to make ends meet, he began working as a high school teacher. Later, he worked as a corporate lending officer for the Bank of Boston.

He started his career in the music industry by working with legendary Elroy Smith. When Smith left the tv network, Hill was asked to replace him as program director at radio station WILD-AM. It was located in Boston, Massachusetts. The station gained its highest rankings ever in 1993, making Hill famous in the radio world. He launched the 24-hour format at ABC Radio Networks. In 1993, he began working as executive producer for the Tom Joyner Morning Show at ABC Radio networks until 1995. After quitting ABC, he joined MTV network as Director of Music Programming until 1999. In late ‘99, he joined Washington-based BET-Black Entertainment Television as Vice President, where he served the longest.
Hill used to lead programming for BET. He was responsible for arranging events like the BET Awards and the BET Hip Hop Awards. His famous works include Love & Happiness: A Farewell to Obama, culture show 106 & Park, tv-series College Hill, and more. He worked there until 2017; only to join Caesar’s Son Productions as Content Creator for the Culture. He has helped putting together the biggest event of 2021- the American Music Awards. He has executive produced: tv documentary Being, the tv drama Zoe Ever After, the tv-parody Real husbands of Hollywood, and another tv drama The new edition story.
