Al Horford Early Life
Horford was born in the Dominican Republic’s Puerto Plata and Tito Horford, his father, spent three seasons in the NBA. Horford and his family relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 2000, where he attended Grand Ledge High School and was a star basketball player. He received the “Class A” Player of the Year award as a senior after posting averages of 21 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks per game. Horford participated in AAU basketball while attending Grand Ledge for the Michigan Mustangs, who finished second in the Adidas Big Time National Tournament.
Al Horford College Career
Horford chose the University of Florida over Michigan by accepting an athletic scholarship, and he later contributed to the Gators’ 2005 Southeastern Conference Tournament victory.
