In Springfield, Illinois, Andre Iguodala was born in 1984 and he attended Lanphier High School as a teenager, where he excelled in both academics and athletics. Among his accomplishments were being awarded a State Journal Student-Athlete of the Week numerous times, as well as All-Conference academic distinctions. Iguodala guided his school’s basketball team to a second-place finish at the Class AA state tournament of the Illinois High School Association as a senior. Iguodala was taken ninth overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2004 NBA Draft. He achieved a triple-double against the Detroit Pistons during his stellar rookie season, earning him a spot on the All-Rookie First Team. Greater success followed the following year, when Iguodala assisted the 76ers in reaching the postseason. With a regular season record of just 27-55, the team’s 2009–10 campaign was disappointing. Iguodala was transferred to the Denver Nuggets in 2012. With the Nuggets, Iguodala had a successful season, averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds per game. Iguodala chose to join the Golden State Warriors in 2013 instead of accepting a five-year contract with the Denver Nuggets.
