On July 28, 1973, Anne Wojcicki was born in Palo Alto, California. Her mother is a Jewish writer and educator. Her father is an emeritus professor of physics at Stanford University. He formerly served as the department’s head. Susan and Janet are Anne’s older sisters. Susan is the CEO of YouTube, and Janet is an epidemiologist and anthropologist. Anne served as the editor of “The Oracle” newspaper at Gunn High School. She also wrote for the school newspaper and her stories about sports earned her a scholarship. Anne graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1996. She also carried out molecular biology research at the National Institutes of Health and the University of California, San Diego.

The Food and Drug Administration started to approve the company’s health-related testing in 2015. In 2018, 23andMe collaborated with GlaxoSmithKline, which made a $300 million investment in the business. As a result, GlaxoSmithKline now has the exclusive right to use 23andMe customers’ test results to create new medications. Anne joined the board of the London-based online auto vendor “Cazoo” in 2021.
