Robert Jens Rock was born on 19 April 1954 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He went to Belmont Secondary School in Langford, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. His father was Vincent Novello. He started playing guitar with friends Paul and William during high school. He is married to Angie since 1988 and has nine children together.

Career:

Bob started as a guitarist in the 80s rock band The Payolas. Their hit single was Eyes of a stranger which made them famous. He released four albums with the band. He released one album each for different bands: Strange Advice, Paul Hyde & The Payolas, Zappacosta, Rock & Hyde, and Rockhead. In 1989, he played guitar for Motley Crue’s album Dr. Feelgood. After that, he played bass guitar & wrote music pieces for the 2003 Metallica album St. Anger. He produced & engineered/mixed the work of several other artists such as Cher, David Lee Roth, Blue Murder, Veruca Salt, Nelly Furtado, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Survivor, Skid Row, Tonic, Loverboy, The Offspring, Bush and Gavin Rossdale. In 2007, he joined the Canadian Music Hall of Fame with great producers like Bob Ezrin, Daniel Lanois, Bruce Fairbairn, Jack Richardson, and David Foster. In 1990, he joined the rock band Metallica to produce their diamond-certified 16x platinum album called The Black Album. It was released in 1991. Then went on to produce other albums such as Load, Garage Inc, S&M, and ReLoad, and acted in music videos of several Metallica and Rockhead band songs. He was featured in the 2004 documentary film Metallica: Some kind of monster. He has done tours at the start of his career and is successfully doing so these days too.
