Darren barker is a former professional boxer who played between the years of 2004 to 2013. He has earned many titles including commonwealth title for the year 2007 to 2009, the European title between 2010 to 2011, the British title in the year 2009 and the IBF title in the year 2013. During the amateur boxing days of Barker, he participated at the 2002 Commonwealth games where he presented England and won a gold medal in the category of light welterweight.

Early career

Barker got into boxing at a very young age. In the start Barker trained at Finchley and District Amateur Boxing Club present in New Bernet. At the club he trained under the supervision of Jimmy Oliver. After training at the club for a long time, Barker decided to enhance his skills and thus, he moved to another club called Repton Boys Club located in Benthal Green. At this new club, Barker was trained by a highly professional boxing coach, Terry, who was also a successful amateur boxer at Repton.

Barker started playing professionally in September 2004, after his fight against Howard Clarke at the Ice Arena located in Nottingham. After this fight, Barker played his next fight at the Conference center in Wembley in the year 2004.

Throughout the year 2005, Barker five more fights and won all of them. Similarly, in the year 2006, Barker played seven fights and kept winning all of those too. Barker took a break from boxing when he received the sad news that is brother was killed in an accident. This unfortunate incident took place in December, 2006.

In the year 2007, Barker fought for his major life event, he competed for Commonwealth Middleweight belt. For this belt Barker defeated the undefeatable Australian boxer called Ben Crampton, who had record of wining 20 fights with only one draw match. Barker won the match which took place at the York Hall after a unified decision over 12 rounds in order to win the title. In the year 2008, barker played to defend his title. He played this defense match against Jason McKay, who is a Irish professional boxer. This match comprised of only six rounds. Barker again defended his title for the third time in 2009 in a match against Dudley’s Darren McDermott.
