Theodore Ernest Els is a South African professional golfer. His nickname is “The Big Easy”. He has 70 career victories including 4 Major Championships such as the U.S. Open in 1994 and 1997 and The Open Championship in 2002 and 2012. Ernie used to play cricket, tennis, rugby, and golf at the age of 8. He played tennis and won Eastern Transvaal Junior Championships at age of 13. He learned golf from his father and was soon better than him. He won Junior World Golf Championship. He won the South African Amateur after his 17^th birthday.

Ernie Els Professional Career

In 1989, he turned professional and won his first professional tournament in 1991. Els won Sunshine Tour Order of Merit in 1991-92 and 1994-95. Els’s first major championship was at U.S Open in 1994.
