GIMS formerly called Maitre Gims is a French rapper, singer and songwriter. His real name is Gandhi Bilel Djuna. GIMS is a member of hip hop group Sexion d’Assaut and he released his solo album in 2013.

GIMS released his first major album ‘Subliminal’ in 2013. Subliminal sold over a million copies in France and reached number 2 at the National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing. In 2015 he released his second album titled ‘Mon Coeur avait raison’ (My heart was right) and in 2018 he released his third album ‘Ceinture noire’ (Black Belt). Both these albums reached number one in France and Belgium. The albums also entered top 40 list in several European countries.

GIMS is a hip hop artist who was the most performed artist on French television and radio in 2018 due to his song ‘La meme’. In the same year he was the 7^th most performed artist in the world on Deezer which is a French online music streaming app.

He also topped the French singles charts four times and collaborated with various International artists including Pitbull, Sia, Lil Wayne, Maluma, Sting and many others. GIMS has sold a total of 5 million records which includes 3 million albums over the course of his career.

GIMS has also won International Artist of the Year award (2020) at the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards. In the same year, Netflix released a documentary called ‘Gims: On the Record’, the documentary highlighted last 10 years of GIMS’s career.
