Grant Henry Hill is an American former basketball player and he is also a co-owner and executive of the National Basketball Association’s Atlanta Hawks (NBA). Throughout his professional career, Hill played for the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA.

Grant Hill Early Life
On October 5, 1972, Grant Henry Hill was born in Dallas, Texas to Calvin Hill, a former NFL football player, and Janet Hill. He played basketball when a student at South Lakes High School, where he was recognised as Virginia’s Mr. Basketball in 1990. Hill decided to enrol at Duke University, where he played basketball for the Blue Devils for four years and contributed to the team’s national championships in 1991 and 1992. Hill became the eighth player in Duke History to have his jersey number retired as a result, in large part as a result of his extremely successful college career. He earned a double major in political science and history from Duke University in 1994.

The Detroit Pistons selected Hill with the third overall pick in the NBA draught. He was the first Piston since Dave Bing in the 1966–1967 season to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, albeit he had to share it with Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks. When Hill received 1,289,585 votes for the 1994–1995 All-Star Game (beating Shaquille O’Neal), he became the first rookie to top an NBA All-Star fan balloting.
Hill had six seasons with the Pistons in total until leaving the franchise in 2000.Hill was given a $92.8 million, seven-year contract by the Pistons, who later exchanged him for the players Chucky Atkins and Ben Wallace in a trade with Orlando. Later, in 2007, he joined the Phoenix Suns and, despite a few minor ailments, was able to participate in more games. He joined the Los Angeles Clippers when his deal with the Suns expired in 2012, however he only played for them for one season before declaring his official retirement on June 1, 2013.
