He was given the name Jeffrey Jacob Abrams on June 27, 1966, in New York City. His parents are executive producer Carol Ann Abrams and TV producer Gerald W. Abrams. Tracy Rosen, his sister, is a screenwriter as well. At Sarah Lawrence College, Abrams enrolled after graduating from Palisades High School.
