Jamie Dimon Early Life

Dimon was born in the city of New York. He is one of three sons of Greek ancestors Theodore and Themis Dimon. Dimon has an elder brother named Peter, as well as a fraternal twin brother named Ted. At Shearson, both his father and grandfather worked as stockbrokers. He attended Browning School and Tufts University, where he majored in psychology and economics and graduated with honours. Dimon authored an article about Shearson’s mergers while at Tufts; his mother forwarded the paper to Sandy Weill, who recruited Dimon to work for Shearson over a summer break, managing budgeting.

Dimon followed Sandy Weill when he departed American Express in 1985. Control Data was subsequently taken up by the two, who took over Commercial Credit, a consumer credit firm. Dimon resigned from Citigroup in November 1998, after Weill encouraged him to do so during a weekend management conference.
