Kevin Systrom was born in Holliston Massachusetts in 1983. Kevin Systrom attended Middlesex School in Concord, Massachusetts where he was first  introduced to computer programming. His interest in computer programming grew from playing a game Doom 2 and creating his own levels as a child. When he was in his high school, he worked at Boston Beat, a vinyl record music store in Boston.

Kevin Systrom attended Stanford University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management science and engineering In 2006. At Stanford University he got chosen as one of twelve students to participate in the Mayfield Fellows Program. The fellowship led to his internship at Odeo Company, the company that eventually gave rise to Twitter.

Kevin Systrom is a son of  Douglas Systrom & Diane Systrom. He has one sister named Katelyn Systrom. He married a woman Nicole Schuetz on October 31, 2016 in Napa, California. Nicole Schuetz is a founder and CEO of clean-energy investment first Sutro Energy Group, They both tomet when they were students at Stanford got engaged in 2014. The couple  welcomed a daughter, Freya Systrom, in June 2018.

Kevin Systrom spent two years at Google and then he left Google out of frustration of not being promoted. Then he shifted to a new startup company called ‘Nextstop’.

While working there he came up with the idea of developing the new big thing in the world of internet. He created an application called ‘Burbn’ with the help of his associate Mike but that was too complicated and difficult to use by the users. Then these introduced the World famous social media handle called “Instagram.”
