Marco van Basten is a football manager and former football player. He played for Ajax and AC Milan. He is said to be the greatest player in the history of football and has scored almost 300 goals. He is the head coach of Ajax and the Netherlands national team. In 1992, he won FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or three times in the years 1988, 1989, and 1992. Marco van Basten Early Life
Marco was born in Utrecht. He played for a local team when he was 6. He later moved to UVV Utrecht and after nine years she moved to another club.
Ajax
When Marco turned 16, he was selected for the 1981-82 season. His father used to keep him away so that his older would have a chance in Ajax. His first match was on 23 April 1982. In the 1982-83 season, he won European top scorer and scored nine goals in 20 matches. His position was strengthened as an attacker. He was the top scorer for four seasons, and he scored 118 goals in 112 matches. In the 1985-86 season, he scored almost 37 goals, and then he won the European Golden Boot. In UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final, he scored the winning goal.
AC Milan
In 1987, Marco was signed for AC Milan. He won Scudetto and he only played 11 matches. In 1988-89 he won Ballon d’Or. In Serie, he scored 19 goals and 32 total goals in the year. Milan won the European Cup. Marco scored 25 goals and became Capocannoniere. In 1992 he scored four goals and in December he was named the FIFA World Player of the Year.
