Arthur Antunes Coimbra is mostly known as Zico. He is a former professional footballer and is now a coach. He is said to be one of the greatest players and the best passers in the history of football. Zico has scored most of the goals from direct free kicks. In 1999, he ranked 8th in FIFA Player of the Century and had his name on the FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest players. He made a total of 71 appearances for Brazil and scored 48 goals.

Zico Early life
Zico was born in 1953 and he was from a middle-class family. He dreamt of being a professional footballer and most of the time he skipped school for football. People used to gather up to see his performance. He used to play for Juventude which was owned by his brothers and friends, he also started playing for River Futebol Clube. In 1967, he had a trial with America but instead, his father took him to trial at Flamengo, and there he started playing.
Zico Club Career
In 1971, Zico joined Flamengo. During this time, he was a key player and won many titles. He helped his team to win the 1981 Copa Libertadores, 1981 International Cup, and four national titles in the years 1980, 1982, 1983, and 1987. Zico was a master at free kicks and his excellent vision.
Zico moved to Italy and had a 4-million-dollar proposal from Udinese. In 1983-84 Serie A, he promised to move Udinese to higher ranks. His free kicks made TV programs debate about it. He scored 19 goals and had an injury. He was also voted 1983 Player of the Year. After the knee injury in 1987, he again went to Flamengo and won the Copa Uniao title. In 1989, he appeared in Brazilian National Championship and won the match against Fluminense. Zico represented team Brazil in the World Cup of Masters. Zico was made Minister of Sports and he stayed in this position for a year.
In 1991, he joined Sumitomo Metals. He helped the club to win a place in Japan’s first professional football league that was to be launched in 1993. From 1991-92, he played for Sumitomo. In the opening, he won the match against Nagoya Grampus and scored a hat-trick. Zico helped the club to win J. League Suntory Series and on 15 June 1994, he scored the last goal of his career which helped them in winning. He earned a title by Japanese football fans.
Zico International Career
Zico played in the 1972 Summer Olympics and played 5 matches. In the 1978 World Cup, he kicked a corner goal which led to a tie. He won a bronze medal with Brazil in 1979 Copa America. Zico played in the 1986 FIFA World Cup but due to his injury, he didn’t do well.
