Matthew Langford Perry is an American Canadian actor, comedian, and a well-known producer. He is well known for his role as Chandler Bing on the television sitcom Friends. He was also a part of a short-lived television series named Studio60 on the Sunset Strip and has appeared in many films. In 2010, his resume included both video games and voice-over work. He voiced Benny a character in the game known as Fallout: New Vegas. Perry was raised in Ottawa, Ontario, and there he became a top-ranked tennis player in Canada. After the age of 15, he became more interested in acting and performed in many high school stage productions. Perry ranked 17th nationally in juniors single and 3rd in the doubles category. When he was offered a leading role on the television series Second Chance, he took the opportunity in beginning his acting career.

Matthew Perry’s Early Life:

Suzanne Marie Morrison and John Bennett Perry welcomed Matthew Perry on August 19, 1969, in Williamstown, Massachusetts. His mother is a Canadian journalist and former press secretary to former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. His father is an American actor and was a model. Before his 1st birthday, his parents got divorced and then his mother married a journalist, KeithMorrison. His mother raised him in Ottawa and was in Ashbury College. In his growing age, he was interested in tennis and was a top-ranked junior tennis player.

After turning 15, Perry moved to Los Angeles from Ottawa to pursue his acting career and went to The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks. After graduating from The Buckley School in 1987 he started improvisational comedy while attending high school. His career started when he was a lead named Chazz Russell in the TV series Second Chance which after some episodes became Boys Will Be Boys and the focus was Chazz and his friends. After this, he made his screen debut in the 1988 film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon. Perry was then stared in the series Growing Pains where his role was portrayed as Carol Saver’s boyfriend who then dies after getting into a drunk driving accident. This was a role of three episodes.

After many roles, he was cast in the 1990 CBS sitcom Sydney and played a younger brother’s role. He made his guest appearance on Beverly Hills as RogerAzarian. This next sitcom was Home free which only aired its 11 episodes in 1993. He auditioned for a role in Six of One which later came to be known as Friends. He was not initially considered for the role but when getting a reading his role was of Chandler Bing.

Friends was a huge success and Perry along with his co-stars become international celebrities. Due to the popularity of the show, Perry and his co-stars made $1 million per episode by 2002. He earned an Emmy nominationforOutstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series but lost to Ray Romano.  He appeared in films such as 1997 Fools Rush In, 1998 Almost Hero, 1999 Three to Tango, 2000 The Whole Nine Yards, 2008 Birds of America 2009 17 Again, 2021 Don’t look Up. He appeared in several TV series such as 1990 Who’s the Boss? , 1992 Dream On, 2012-2013 Go On, 2014 Playhouse Presents, 2015-2017 the Odd Couple, and the most famous 2021 Friends: the Reunion.

Matthew Perry had to complete a 28-day program in 1997 for Vicodinaddiction. He once dropped 145 pounds. There was 20 pounds weight loss due to Pancreatitis. He had to join rehab again in February 2001 due to addiction to Vicodin, Methadone, Amphetamines, and Alcohol. Due to his addiction, Perry stated that he does not remember his 3 years of Friends, but he has been sober since 2001.

In August 2018, as per reported perry went through abdominal surgery to repair a gastrointestinal perforation. Later, he revealed that he spent 3 months recovering in hospital. He got engaged to MollyHurwitz in November 2020 after being rumored of dating and was reported of spending Christmas together. Later in 2021 he called off his engagement and said “Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.”
