Mitchell H. Glazer was born on 1 January 1953 in Key Biscayne, Florida, United States. His father was Leonard and mother Zelda Glazer. His mother was an English teacher. Raised in Miami, he went to Miami Beach High School. First, he attended Clark University then transferred to New York University. He is Jewish by religion. His first wife was model and actress Wendie Malick. After that, he married another American actress Kelly Lynch on 6 December 1992. He has one adopted daughter Shane Lynch. He is friends with popular names in Hollywood such as Bill Murray, John Belushi, Timothy White and Mickey Rourke. Mickey was also a high school senior of Mitch.

He started his career by working in music publication called Rolling Stone and music magazine Crawdaddy. He wrote his first movie Mr. Mike’s Mondo Video in 1979. His various scriptwriting works include movie Great Expectations-based on Charles Dicken’s novel. He wrote and created TV series Magic City, for which he was the showrunner. In 1981, he wrote an episode of Saturday Night Live called Jr walker and the All Stars. In 2015, he co-wrote Christmas comedy film A very Murray Christmas. In 1989, he wrote 2 episodes of famous cartoon series The Simpsons. Episodes were called Thursdays with Abie and Labor Pains alongside Don Payne. He acted in two movies Scrooged and Mr. Mike’s Mondo Video. He directed movie Passion Play in 2010. Apart from that he wrote & co-wrote many movies and tv series of Hollywood that includes segment of Totally Hidden Video, movies: Off and Running, Three of Hearts, Great Expectations, Lost in Translation, The Recruit, Drifting Elegant, Passion Play, Rock the Kasbah. He did novelization work of movie The Blues Brothers for his friend John Belushi under the pen name Miami Mitch.
