Richard McVey, also called as “Rick”, is an American entrepreneur and founder of MarketAxess, which is a publicly traded financial technology company. He leads the company and serves as its CEO since its inception in 2000.

Richard McVey Early Life
McVey was born on 2 July 1959 in Ohio, U.S. He grew up in suburb of Cleveland. His father was an investor in stock market and used to run an oil company. He graduated from Miami University with Bachelor Degree in Finance in 1981. He completed his MBA in 1983 from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.

McVey started his career in futures market. He began his career a trader in finance market. In 1991, he was given chance to run the entire North America Futures and Options business by JP Morgan. He proved his mettle and rose to become the managing director. McVey was relocated to the New York to run Morgan’s North American Fixed Income Sales. He skillfully managed the Morgan’s business until 2000.
Using his skills and experience, McVey founded MarketAxess in April 2000. He proposed his business model as part of Morgan’s Lab Morgan Program. Since its inception, the company has introduced multiple innovations in trading technology and developed a new range of innovative trading tools. The company brought new methods of Invertor-to-multi dealer & all-to-all electronic trading solutions. In 2001, MarketAxess acquired Trading Edge Inc, while in 2020, the company agreed to buy MuniBrokers. McVey serves as the CEO of MarketAxess from last 22 years since its founding in April 2000. He has emerged as one of the top businessman in the U.S. with successful strides and gained huge popularity and respect for his knowledge and innovations in trading.
Previously, he has also served on the board of directors of Blue Mountain Credit Alternatives. Besides being CEO of MarketAxess, he also serves on the board of directors for Miami University Foundation.
