Russell Early Life

Russel was born on October 10, 1972. With his two brothers Shawn and Willie, He was raised in Vinton, Louisiana, in the United States. He received training from his father by participating in all of his business endeavors, such as shrimping, oystering, working in his sawmill, and much more. Together with his father and brother, he ran the oil company “Hantz Tankering Service” in Dayton. They also owned the “Bootleggers bar” in Lafayette, Louisiana. He stated on “Survivor: Samoa” that he had made $1.7 million the year before.

Russell D. Hantz is widely regarded as the most prominent antagonist in the series “Survivor”. He is noted for his brazen and ruthless behavior and for purposefully causing mayhem at camp. This self-made man, a major fan of Survivor, started his business from nothing. By working hard, speaking his thoughts, and stomping on anyone who stood in his way, he carved out a path for himself. Two years after submitting an application to compete in Pirate Master, Hantz received a call from casting to participate in Survivor: Samoa.

There, he started playing the game by lying and cheating after being assigned to the Foa Foa tribe. Later on, as a last-minute replacement for Shane Powers from “Survivor: Panama”, Hantz was invited back for Survivor’s 20th season. He was placed on the Villains tribe. For “Survivor: Redemption Island”, the show’s 22nd season, Hantz came back to compete against “Boston Rob,” an old foe. Hantz joined the Zapatera tribe by chance. He was officially eliminated from the game after falling to Matt Elrod in their duel on Redemption Island. Deeply heartbroken by the defeat, Hantz announced that this season would be his final on Survivor. Hantz later joined the “Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders” cast as a member of the Champions tribe for the first season.

The season was produced following CBS’s 2017 acquisition of Network Ten. On February 10, 2010, Hantz and ten other “Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains” contestants made a special appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman”. The purpose was to unveil the show’s Top Ten List. To promote Redemption Island, Hantz and Rob Mariano were featured on the TV Guide Magazine cover for the week of February 14, 2011. Hantz was also a featured guest on the A&E reality series Flipped Off in 2012.
