Steven Terner Mnuchin was born on 21 December 1962 in New York City, New York, United States. His parents are general partner of Goldman Sachs Robert E. and Elaine Terner Cooper. He attended Riverdale High School in New York. Steven Mnuchin got his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Yale University in 1985. He first marriage was to Kathryn Leigh McCarver from 1992 till 1999. He remarried in 1999 to Heather deForest Crosby but divorced in 2014. They had three children together. He is currently married to Scottish actress Lousie Linton.

His first job was of a trainee at Salomon Brothers in the 1980s. he then went on to work for a brief period of time in investment management firm Goldman Sachs until 2002. In 2004, he founded his own production company called Dune Entertainment. His former company has financed movies for 20th Century Fox including the X-Men film franchise and Avatar. Later, it was merged with Brett Ratner & James Packer’s joint venture named RatPack Entertainment. Resulting in the newly found production house called RatPack-Dune Entertainment. They have signed a deal with Warner Bros financing films like American Sniper and Mad Max: Fury Road. He has also served as the chairman of the media company Relativity Media.
