Driven by his passion for sports and his entrepreneur skills, he founded ‘Fanatics’, world’s leading sports merchandize retail company. He is also an executive chairman of Rue Gilt Groupe, includes RueLala.com, Gilt.com and ShopPremiumOutlets.com. Due to his passion for sports and business, he bought Philadelphia 76ers basketball team in 2011 and New Jersey Devils Hockey Team in 2013. In addition to his business portfolio, the philanthropist Rubin started “All In Challenge” and raised $60 million to fight food insecurity during COVID-19 Pandemic. He also co-chairs REFORM Alliance, an organization for bringing criminal justice reforms. Rubin was included in Forbes 400: The Richest People in America in 2014.

Michael Rubin was born in Pennsylvania on 21 July 1972. His father Ken Rubin was a veterinarian and mother Paulette Rubin was a psychiatrist. He attended Villanova University for a semester but dropped out to pursue his business. At the age of 12, he opened a formal ski-tuning shop in his parent’s basement. By the time, he attended Villanova University; the shop had expanded to five stores. Rubin married to a local dance teacher Meegan Rubin but the couple divorced in 2011. He has two daughters.

Rubin stepped into ski shop business in his teens. At the age of 17, he sold out his ski shops and opened an athletic equipment company ‘KPR Sports’. It was a huge success for him and by 1995, KPR reached $50 million in sales. At 1998, he created a logistic company Global Sports Incorporated Commerce (GSI Commerce) which he then sold to eBay in 2011. He repurchased Rue La La – a flash seller, Shop Runner – a retail benefit program and Fanatics Inc., a sports merchandizer. He sold ShopRunner to FedEx in December 2020. As a CEO of Fanatics Inc., Rubin orchestrated partnership deals and acquired rights of designing, manufacturing and distributing Nike fan gear for National Football League and Major Baseball League. He was a member of investment group that bought Philadelphia 76ers team in 2011 and later New Jersey Devils hockey team in 2013. In June 2022, Rubin sold his stakes in both the franchises.
