Nev Schulman was born on 26 September 1984 in New York City. He was born into a Jewish family. His older brother Ariel is also an actor and filmmaker. He studied dance for five years and later started taking pictures and got more involved in photography. He joined Sarah Lawrence College in the photography and dance program, but he was expelled from the college because he got into a fight with a girl.

Career

Nev Schulman was interested in photography and film from a small age. Schulman and Ariel started a film and photography production company when he turned 19. He became more involved in a contemporary ballet company and started photography dance in 2004. He is the founding member of the Young Leadership Committee for youth named Leave Out Violence. In 2010, Nev Schulman started working on the documentary named Catfish which was filmed by his brother Arial and his business partner Henry. In this documentary, he falls in love with a girl he met online and later finds out that the girl is not what she claimed to be.

In 2012, He became the host and producer of the show Catfish. He partnered with his friend Max Joseph. He introduced couples in real life who haven’t met yet and have been dating online. This show helped everyone to know about the lies and truths of online dating. He is mostly known for his series Catfish as it gained popularity due to being a reality show. In 2018, the show was stopped due to sexual misconduct but after some time it was said to be wrong, and the show was started again.

He also wrote a book named In Real Life: Love, Lies & Identity in the Digital Age in 2014. This book includes the lessons he has learned from the series Catfish. In 2018 he appeared in the film Nobody’s Fool and played himself with Max. He was competing in the 29^th season of Dancing with the Stars on September 2, 2020. He stood second with his partner and lost to Kaitlyn Bristowe.
