He was born on 8 August 1974 in Glendale, California. His parents are Irene and Vincent Rotella, they raised him in Pacific Palisades. He was born into a poor family, and they used to live in a youth hostel. He owned a deli shop and Rotella used to work as a busboy.

in 1992 started throwing parties in Los Angeles. Later, Los Angeles started having rave scenes after the drug series. He hosted many best events and did his best to promote them. He used to sell tickets, pass flyers, and pick trash for this and said no job is too small. In 1993, he started organizing raves for $5 and hosted his parties as an Insomniac. In 2013, Pasquale Rotella paired with Interscope Records to form Insomniac Records.
