Roberto Baggio is an Italian former professional footballer. He is also a former president of the Italian football federation. He is one of the greatest players of all the time. He was fourth in FIFA Player of the Century and was chosen on the FIFA World Cup Dream Team. In 1993, he won FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or. For Italy, he played 56 matches and scored 27 goals.

Florindo Baggio and Matilde welcomed Roberto Baggio on 18 February 1967 in Caldogno, Veneto.

Baggio started his youth career at the young age of 9. By the age of 11, he scored 45 goals and was an assist in 26 matches. When his talent was recognized, he was called by the Vicenza youth team. He played in 120 matches and scored 110 goals. When Baggio turned 15, he started playing with the Vicenza senior side. During his Serie C1 debut, his team won the match against Brescia. In Copa Italia Serie C, he scored his first professional goal and won the match. In 1985, he was awarded Guerin d’Oro. He was purchased by Fiorentina and in his Serie A debut, he won the match against Sampdoria. With Fiorentina, he scored 55 goals in 136 matches.

In 1990, Baggio was sold to Juventus and was given shirt number 10. In the first season, he scored 14 goals and Juventus made it to the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners’ Cup. In the second , Baggio scored almost 18 goals. In the 1992-1993 season, he was made the team captain. Baggio won the European club trophy and his team reached the semi-finals of Coppa Italia. He won the European Footballer of the Year, FIFA World Player of the Year, Onze d’Or, and World Soccer Player of the Year Award. He later joined AC Milan in 1995-97. In this season, he scored 10 goals and made 34 appearances. In 1997-1998, Baggio joined Bologna and later, he earned a place in the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He scored 22 goals in Serie A and was also named the captain of the team. From 1998-2000, he joined his childhood club Inter Milan and from 2000-2004 he joined Brescia.

Baggio has won two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia, and a UEFA Cup. He received the Man of Peace award in 2010.  In 2011 he was the first footballer to be introduced to the Italian Football Hall of Fame. He scored 425 goals in his football career.
