Rowan Sebastian Atkinson is a British English actor, Comedian, and a writer. He is mostly known for his roles in Blackadder and Mr. Bean. He is in the industry since 1979 and has been famous since then. He has appeared in many movies and television series. He is listed in 50 funniest actors in British Comedy in 2003. He has also worked in the James Bond film “Never Say Never Again.”

Rowan Sebastian Atkinson Early Life:

Eric Atkinson and Ella May welcomed Rowan on 6 January 1955. He was born in Consett, Country Durham, England. He was the youngest child and one of his brothers died as an infant. His brother Rodney lost UK Independence Party leadership election in 2000. He was in Durham Chorister School and then at St Bees School. He got highest grades in A-levels and after this he went to Newcastle University. He studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He went to The Queen’s College, Oxford, for further studies. He began doctoral work before his acting. He had already performed and written for shows in Oxford. He collaborated with Richard Curtis and Howard Goodall during his career.

He was starred in series of comedy shows for BBC Radia 3 which was called The Atkinson People. It consisted of interviews of frictional men which he played himself. Writers for the shows were Atkinson and Richard Curtis and were produced by Griff Rhys Joes.

He did one of Pilot for London Weekend Television in 1979 named as Canned Laughter and further gained attention when he performed the third The Secret Policeman’s Ball in 1979. Then he started appearing in many TV skits. He did solo skits as well, some of them were without any dialogue and included an invisible drum kit or an invisible piano. He appeared on “Not the Nine O’clock” News for BBC. Success in this led him to the role of Edmund Blackadder in Blackadder. First series were “The Black Adder” and was co-written. The second was released after 3 years due to budget issues. Blackadder II was descendant of Atkinson’s original character. Same was repeated for other 2 sequels.

Mr. Bean

Atkinson is mostly known for his role of Mr. Bean. Mr. Bean was released on New Year’s Day in 1990 and the character was liked by everyone so much. Atkinson described the character selfish, self-centered and someone who doesn’t care about the outside world. Mr. Bean’s character was a child in a man’s body. Mr. Bean had many sequels and later there was a movie made “Bean” in 1997. The second movie Mr. Bean’s Holiday was released in 2007.
