Shane was signed by Primitive Skateboarding and in 2018, he left Primitive Skateboarding to start his own company by the name of April skateboards. In 2021, April Skateboards team was able to secure skateboarders such as Guy Mariano, Yuto Horigome, and Diego Najera. He is also a member of SLS ‘9 Club’ which means that he was able to do a trick in the Street League competition which was scored an average of 9 or better by the competition’s judges. The trick which he performed was a switchstance Switch 360 double kickflip and he tied with Nyjah Huston for the highest scoring trick in the Street League history.
Shane’s stance while skateboarding is defined as Goofy. In 2015,He published a video titled ‘Shane Goes Skate Mental’, in the video He is seen performing a backside heelflip down the steps at the Wallenberg. The video shows one of the most difficult tricks performed by a skateboarder at that particular location. In 2016, he won a gold medal for Australia at the World Skateboarding Championship. He managed to win a silver medal at the 2017 World Skateboarding Championship. He managed to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics in the Street Skateboarding Competition in 2021. The 2020 Olympics were delayed due to COVID-19 and hence were continued in 2021. He competed at the Men’s street event and managed to get a sixteenth position in the Preliminary Heats which prevented him from competing in the finals.
He has made a name for himself through his technical tricks and is known to be a perfectionist. He is one of the most famous skateboarders of his time. However, he struggles with consistency for instance he only managed to secure 2 medals (silver and bronze) at the 17 X Games he took part in. He did manage to win 9 career Street League Podiums and a Tampa Pro in 2021. He is also known for scouting talented skateboarders.
