Michael ‘Mike’ Grzesiek better known by his stage name Shroud (formerly known as mEclipse) is a Canadian YouTuber, Twitch streamer, Valorant and former Counter Strike: Global Offensive player through Cloud9. He has 6.82 million YouTube subscribers (with nearly 1 billion views) and 10.3 million Twitch followers. He held the record titled second longest standing player of Cloud9 for a very long time. Shroud was born on 2 June, 1994 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He is a Canadian-Polish gamer. He grew up in Mississauga and studied at local high school in the neighborhood.
Shroud Gaming Career
Initially, he started playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive with different ESEA teams namely Exertus, eSports, and Manajauma. Later signed in by compLexity gaming as a stand-in. In August 2014 was signed by Cloud9, when roster of compLexity was acquired by them. His career took off when he helped Cloud9 lead to first place upon finishing in ESL pro season league 4. Lastly, leading Cloud9 to second place at ESL One Cologne. He was declared ‘King of Reddit’ by ‘Global Offensive subreddit’ a networking space for counter strike: global offensive global community. He retired from Cloud9 & official game playing of Counter Strike: Global Offensive on 18 April 2018 to pursue a career in Twitch streaming. Sentinels signed him as their official team player for the game: Valorant on 22 July 2022.
Shroud Streaming Career
After quitting Cloud9 gaming team, he switched to streaming and reached 100,000 followers by streaming on Twitch social media platform on 10 March 2019. He left in October 2019 to join Microsoft. But later returned with a bang on 11 August 2020, getting 516,000 views back-to-back. Following in the footsteps of fellow gamer and rival Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, Shroud left twitch and joined Microsoft streaming application called Mixer in October 2019. Later, Microsoft announced they were merging Mixer with Facebook gaming and offered Shroud new contract. At the same time, he was offered double money from Facebook gaming than Microsoft. Shroud famously refused to sign a contract under the merger with Facebook Gaming and received remaining amount from the Mixer contract buyout.
