Kevin Bright is a Jewish American. He was born and raised in New York City and attended East Side Hebrew Institute which was situated in Manhattan. Bright got a graduation degree from Emerson College. He started his professional career under his father Jackie Bright. After he completed his graduation, he started working with Joseph Cates and as a result he helped produce various specials for George Burns, Johnny Cash, David Copperfield, and Dolly Parton. In 1982, he moved to Los Angeles and started working in comedy programs including The History of White People in America. He also worked on comedy specials which starred Robin Williams, Martin Mull, Harry Shearer, Paul Shaffer, and Merrill Markoe.

Although Bright became a known professional in his field it was his partnership with Martha Kaufman and David Crane that became the highlight of his career. The trio started a production company in 1993 under the name of ‘Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions’ and signed a development deal with Warner Bros. Television. The Bight/Kauffman/Crane Production produced the hit comedy series ‘Friends’. Apart from being a producer, Bright was also a director for the show.

He directed sixty episodes in the show and was also the director of the series finale. After the huge success of Friends, Bright went on to produce ‘Joey’ which was a Friends spinoff series starring Matt LeBlanc. However, the show got cancelled in 2006. After that, he moved to Boston and began working at Emerson College. While he was there, he served as an executive producer on three comedy shows, four original situation comedies, and a live multi cam stand-up comedy.

He was also an advisor for the EVVY Awards. Bright has also given lectures and workshops on television production in the Visual Media Arts department. He also helped develop a creative program for Emerson’s LA Centre. Bright also worked with Perkins School for the Blind in order to develop a program to teach blind individuals TV production. In 2013, he took up the position of Emerson Los Angeles program’s Founding Director. He took full opportunity of developing new programs with the help of Emerson’s expanded presences in the city. Bright has also served as an executive producer on feature and short films including, Who ordered Tax?, Jack Krash: Slave to Rock and The Lion.
