Zachary Alexander is an American author, paranormal investigator, and television host who is also known as Zak Bagans. Bagans is most known for creating and anchoring the Travel Channel program “Ghost Adventures” (2008–present). The show is executive produced by Zak, who has also directed several of the episodes.

In Washington, D.C., on April 5, 1977, Zachary Alexander Bagans was born into a middle-class family. His parents got divorced after his birth and his mother remarried. When he was 10 years old, he started frequenting garage sales with his mother, Nancy, “in quest of unusual and spooky items,” which sparked his interest in the paranormal. Meredith, Zak’s older sister, and Phil and Sky, his younger half-siblings, are his siblings. Bagans graduated from Illinois’ Glenbard West High School in 1995. He subsequently enrolled at Western Michigan University but departed after only eight months. Later, Zak studied at Michigan’s Motion Picture Institute.

He claims that after having a close experience with the ghost of a suicide victim, his life was never the same. He decided to work towards digging further into the paranormal aspects of human life at that point, and he gathered a team to make a documentary-style movie called “Ghost Adventures.”
